About Me

Who?
Kella Campbell is my pen name. “Kella” is a nickname I’ve had since childhood — it feels as much like my name as the one on my birth certificate, and just somehow feels more right for the person I am when I’m writing. Campbell is the family name I married into; sometimes it still doesn’t feel like mine, but it’s easier to spell than the one I was born with. When I’m not writing, you can find me reading; my favorite genre is romance, of course, but I’ll read anything except horror. I collect teacups, and I have a 2nd degree black belt in ATA-style taekwondo. I’m open-minded about most things that don’t cause harm or put one subset of human beings above or below others. Pronouns: she/her.

What?
Pretty well everything I write has romantic/emotional/relationship elements, because that’s what interests me. Sometimes that comes out as speculative fiction. Other times, not so much. I’m drawn more toward exploring the imperfect side of things rather than the sweet side.

Where?
Vancouver, Canada.

When?
Nocturnally, in general, and whenever I can, squeezed in between parenting and my professional life. I’m currently in my mid 40s, crunched with the full-time needs of school-age children and the pressures of working from home. And you know, my husband needs some time and attention too.

Why?
Because.
